Our Team

BOB MABBOTT - Inventor of SMART Imaging Film

Bob Mabbott, has largely funded the last seven years of development leading up to the introduction of "SMART" Imaging film into the market.

Bob has spent the last twenty years developing innovative process technology for short run digital print applications. In 1983 after graduating from college with an M.S.I.A.D in graphic and industrial design, he was introduced to and was mentored for the next several years, by renowned polymer scientist Professor John Nightingale a 42 year veteran of ICI. In 1993 he introduced the world's first patented single component transfer paper, which allowed customers to print full color and metallic images in the same process, setting new standards in the packaging proofing industry. In 1997, with over a decade of transfer printing development behind him, he aligned his technology with the digital press manufacturers. In 2000, his skills in both transfer process and engineering technology was used to bring the world's first commercial digital CD printing system to market. With his roots firmly planted in digital transfer technology, Bob's advanced concepts and revolutionary approach to providing digital printing solutions has led to the development and patenting of "SMART" Imaging film technology.

Derived from advanced polymer technology, Bob made lab samples of "SMART" Imaging film for the first time in 1997.
This was followed by:
2001-the production of the first extruded "SMART" Imaging film;
2002-the production of the first extruded room temperature "SMART" Imaging film;
2003-the production of the first inkjet "SMART" Imaging film;
2004-the successful completion of the first full production run of extruded "SMART" Imaging film;
2005-the production of the first "SMART" Imaging films that are self adhesive; and
2006-the integration of the first "SMART" Imaging films to be thermally activated
 With five different "Smart" Imaging films and eight different "SMART" Imaging film constructions to its credit, he is now looking to put together an experienced mix of dedicated professionals to make all aspects of Fo2fusion’s business, strong and successful.
